Review: We Can't Stop by Miley Cyrus

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I heard a couple weeks ago that Miley Cyrus was coming out with a new song. I really really loved Can't Be Tamed and Party In The USA. I was ready for something along those lines. Something really upbeat and fun. I was proved wrong but I still like this song. Do I like it more than her previous singles? No. Was it worth the three year wait? No. Do I love it? No. But do I like it? Yes, I like it a lot.
Song:
Like I said before, this song isn't as party worthy as her past singles but I like the fact that she took the risk and went for something more mellow. Direct Lyrics has said that Miley's record label RCA "would approve her going to this 'more urban than pop' genre." I completely agree that the song is a lot less 'pop'. I have to say that lyrics are definitely not the highlight of this song for me. The music and the tempo was what made the song catchy. I loved the piano at the beginning and even though that stopped after awhile, without the backing vocals, the song would be pretty bad. I'm just glad the song was produced the way it was.
Lyrics:
Alrighty, we all know that songs nowadays have pretty meaningless lyrics. The only reason I could ignore it in this song was because it was a very medium-tempo song. I can almost tune out the sillyness of the lyrics.
"To my homegirls here with the big butts
Shaking it like we at a strip club"
I think she forgot about the homegirls with with the small butts. Just kidding, but seriously, surely there are other things you can do at parties. I'm not being sarcastic, my favourite line of the song is literally:
"So la da da di we like to party"
Summary:
Even though there are some things about this song that are terrible, I can't help but listen to it. It's not the best but it still is a very good song.

I'm putting a chord diagram up because after seeing Taylor play this, she plays her G's, C9's and Em7 a little different. (The Em7 is a chord I missed that she uses in the chorus- It's a very quick strum, and then to the next chord.)  She also has a quick strum of a Cadd9 in the 2nd and 4th line of the chorus that I missed.  You really need to listen to the song while playing to  get the timing of these quick chords down! ;) It still sounds good just playing the regular way but the added Em7 needs to be [x20033].

JOEY JORDISON: TANPA BLACK SABBATH TIDAK ADA METAL!

Tidak ada yang meragukan kebesaran Black Sabbath untuk sejarah metal. Rocker veteran ini mempengaruhi begitu banyak band selama bertahun-tahun dan menempatkan genre metal di level yang berbeda. Drummer Slipknot, Joey Jordison, mengungkapkan ia adalah salah satu yang terkena imbas Black Sabbath.

"Tanpa Black Sabbath? Sederhana saja. Tidak akan ada metal," ujarnya singkat kepada majalah Metal Hammer yang membuat edisi khususBlack Sabbath tribute.

"Memang ada band-band lain yang juga penting untuk perkembangan metal, tetapi Black Sabbath adalah pionir dari doom metal dan heavy music. Mereka begitu... Orisinil," kata Joey lagi, "Coba dengarkan Into the Void, Lord of This World dan Sweet Leaf. MASTER OF REALITY adalah album kesukaanku, dan kuakui, Black Sabbath itu lagu kesukaanku.'

"Sampai sekarang, kalau aku mendengar lagu itu, sensasinya masih tetap sama. Tak peduli berapa usiaku! Aku yakin, saat aku 70 tahun, lagu yang sama akan tetap membuatku merinding," tegas Joey yang mempunyai cat darah di topengnya.

Joey mengingat pertama kali, orang tuanya memutar lagu itu. Yang dipikirkannya adalah, betapa mengerikannya lagu itu. Sekarang, ia tertawa, "Aku jadi bertanya-tanya apa yang sedang dilakukan orang tuaku di bawah sana. Lagu itu benar-benar mengguncang," tuturnya.

Kembalinya Black Sabbath bersama (tanpa Bill Ward sang drummer) memang mengejutkan sekaligus menyenangkan banyak orang. Sekian puluh tahun, lagu-lagu mereka masih didengarkan dari generasi ke generasi. [Banjarsari Underground]

Music Of May 2013!

Just a tad bit late but better late than never. This month of music for me has been kind of boring. I've found a lot of good songs but not many songs that made me amazed. There just wasn't anything that stood out. But aside from that, all these songs are definitely worth listening to. You can listen to my playlist on SoundCloud.
