Music Of May 2013!

Just a tad bit late but better late than never. This month of music for me has been kind of boring. I've found a lot of good songs but not many songs that made me amazed. There just wasn't anything that stood out. But aside from that, all these songs are definitely worth listening to. You can listen to my playlist on SoundCloud. Music Disappointments Of May 2013!

There aren't many songs that I wish I could've liked this month but there are a few. Most months, I just skip this post because I don't find many. I decided that five was enough. I'm going to sound really mean but I promise that I was just being honest. None of these songs are extremely terrible and I still urge you to check them out. These are only my opinions.

Songs I Wished I Could've Added To My Playlist:
Best Friends - Janoskians
I actually really like the Janoskians' videos even though they are really stupid. This is their second single and I was really excited until I listened to the lyrics. Also, their singing is reasonable but it's not enough for me.

Live It Up (feat. Pitbull) - Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull were the dream team when they did On The Floor but this was too much of the same. The parts that were unique just didn't make up for it. I think the only part I enjoyed was when no one was rapping or singing. There was this one part where JLO was just talking and that was kind of weird for me.

#Beautiful (feat. Miguel) - Mariah Carey
Who doesn't love Mariah Carey? I love her too but I just didn't like this song. I'm not sure why because everything about the song is quite nice. I think it's a little bit to soft for me. It doesn't have that part where I just break out and start singing. There's nothing exciting to lead up to.

Blurred Lines (feat. T.I & Pharrell) - Robin Thicke
There's been a big hype going around this month. I don't know why, I just don't like the style of the music. I think the lyrics are just a little stupid. "You dah hottest girl in dah world." Yeah, I don't know. I can see why the song can be really catchy but the lyrics ruin it for me. At first, I'll nod my head to it, then I'll listen to it and be like uuuh ew. The lyrics are ruining a lot of songs for me huh?

Books Of May 2013!

I'm extremely happy with how much I've read this month. In total, I've read six books! This has to be some kind of record for me. I read three and a half of them in the Bout of Books read-a-thon which shows I only read a lot when I feel like I have to. Either way, I really enjoyed myself this month. I read two books that weren't on my TBR.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Review: The Other Side by Jason Derulo

Yay for another music review! Today, I'm going to tell you why I absolutely love The Other Side by Jason Derulo. I know that this song has been out for quite awhile but it didn't capture my attention until the music video was released yesterday. I'd downloaded the song when it came out and I listened to it once and kind of just forgot to add to it to my playlist. When the music video came out I was like OMG this song is actually really good! 

Song:

I don't always rate songs but this one definitely gets a 5 STARS from me. It has a very uplifting beat that makes you want to party. The dance vibe accompanied Jason Derulo's voice amazingly. I think that the song is very catchy and easy to listen too. I still remember when I used to listen to In My Head and Watcha Say. I also liked Breathing which came out in 2011 but I haven't really liked a Jason Derulo song in quite a long time. Now, I remember why I loved his songs so much all those years ago. 

Lyrics:

Though the song has a party feel, it doesn't have many things that you'd normally associate with those kinds of songs. Most of the lyrics are very cute, sweet and romantic. The only line that I'd personally change is "Tonight we’ll just get drunk". I think that without that, everything else is wonderful. The lyrics have an urgent tone but it's really beautiful at the same time. Lines like "Kiss me like it’s do or die" are what really make me love the song. It also makes me wish that I wasn't forever alone. 

Summary:

As you probably expected, overall, this song was absolutely mind blowing. I love love loved it! I definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't already, although most people probably already have. I could listen to this song over and over all day. My neighbours might be a little annoyed at my non-stop singing but The Other Side is just one of the songs where you can't listen to it without that urge to start singing. The music video is just a tad bit raunchy though, alright, a lot raunchy.

TBR in May 2013!

Hey guys! This month is the first time I'm going to have a sort of theme. Starting new series! I don't usually have themes and I just read whatever I want, but luckily, all the books I want to read in May are new series that I've want to start. I hope to continue having themes. There will only be four books because each book is fairly long. I'm not confident that I will finish all the books I want to read this month but I will try. I'm also reading Frankenstein for school. You could say I'm cheating because Frankenstein and Kafira don't fit the theme but, yolo! They're technically the first out of one book so I'm going to let it slide. This month I'm going to read the books by the author's last names in reverse alphabetical order.

TBLT in April & May 2013!

Hi everybody. TBLT? It's meant to stand for To Be Listened To since TBR is To Be Read. It kind of makes sense. I don't know, I might change it to something else but I thought TBLT works.
