Review: Me & My Girls by Fifth Harmony

Genres: Pop, Electronic Dance Music, R&B
Released: 16th July 2013
Members: Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane Hansen, Normani Hamilton, Ally Brooke Hernandez Epic Records

Fifth Harmony were the second runners up in the US version of X Factor. Their more popular song, released awhile ago is called Miss Movin' On. However, I really like this song too. Both songs are really fun and happy. I'm glad different X Factors all over the world have brought out so many good singers and artists. Sometimes I do still feel as though these winners don't have to work as hard to get famous, but I do admit they are talented.
Song:
I love all five of the girl's voices. Though they aren't extremely unique, at least they aren't bad. This song has an almost Hannah-Montana-esque beat to it. It's super crazy uplifting and fun. After all, the song is about being at a party so I couldn't expect any less. I really loved it every time the song broke into a Electronic Dance Music instrumental. It added another layer to the boring parts.
Lyrics:
Normally, I'd hate lyrics like these but for some reason, I don't mind them. I mean they are kind of stupid and cheesy but I have to say, they're realistic. They target younger, teen listeners but they've definitely done a good job of it. Can totally relate:
"My voice is gone, got my favorite PJ's on
Times like this don't always come along"
Summary:
Not the best song, not even mind-blowing but it was good. Definitely a song that I will listen to often. I just don't love it as much as everything else. Do check it out though, you never know until you try it.

Review-A-Thon: Come With Me by Ricky Martin

Come With Me - Single, Ricky Martin

Genres: Pop, Music
Released: Jun 14, 2013
℗ 2013 Sony Music Entertainment US Latin LLC

Come With Me is an Australian release that will blasting through out country's radio stations. I'm pretty young so I haven't heard much of Ricky Martin but I do now that he's a very respected artist. He's been a judge on The Voice Australia which means that this was the perfect time to release a new single. Delta Goodrem, a fellow judge, also released a new single recently. I also plan to review her song but I'll see if I can squish it in. Come With Me is a mix of lot's of different genres. In my opinion, I'd say it's mostly dance-pop.
Song:
I really love songs like this. Songs that I can just imagine being played at a club. It's super catchy and fun. I've read a few things that other people have said and they've said it has Latin undertones. I completely agree and I think it adds a really nice element to the song. The kind of song it is is hard to describe. It's a variety of so many different genres. At first I think it reminds me of Enrique Iglesias and then I think it sounds like David Guetta but then it also sounds like Jennifer Lopez. Let's just say that it sounds mainstream but in a good way. I love the way it was produced. I can tell that if it was done any other way, it may not have sounded as good as it was. Of course Ricky Martin's voice does play a big part in how good it was but the producing plays a massive part too.
Lyrics:
The lyrics surprised me. I never thought that a dance-pop song could have such powerful lyrics. Sad lyrics, uplifting beat. My favourite line:
"Don't save your love for some elusive dream."
Summary:
Well obviously, I'm just going to say that I love it. I feel like this 'Summary' part of my reviews are getting too repetitive. I'll keep doing it though because people who don't want to read the whole review can read this. I love how it was produced and I love the strong and deep lyrics! Check it out guys!

Books Of February 2013!

I've had an extremely productive month! Well I guess I've actually had a very unproductive month since I've only been reading but I've been productive in reading. I finished five books this month. These are the four out of the five that I actually liked. I also read UnWholly but that unfortunately was a disappointment. Click here for that post. Without further ado, here it is:

Hopeless (Hopeless, #1)

by
This one gets a special mini review cause that's just how awesome it is. I know I said that this was going to be a March read but I finished Unravel Me so I was like, meh why not? I went through it so fast! I loved the characters. I loved the emotions it brought out. There were definitely some parts I didn't expect but I love how each character connected. The writing was also amazing. I can't wait for the second book even though I wouldn't mind if this was a novel on it's own. Go read it! NOW!

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines, #3)

I definitely give all these books 5 STARS. I wish that I could've liked every book I read this month but oh well. 80% of them were amazing so I'm happy. I'm currently reading Warm Bodies. I just started so I'm not going to judge it yet but we'll see.

Review: Set Me On Fire by Bella Ferraro

Genres: Pop, Music
Released: 14 December 2012
℗ 2012 Sony Music Entertainment Australia Pty Ltd.

Song:
This song displays Bella Ferraro's amazing and unique vocals. The instruments are kept to the bare minimum with some piano. Strings aren't brought in until later in the track so that Bella's amazing voice can shine.
Lyrics:
The words are very inspiring and beautiful. Though the track isn't cheerful or uplifting, the lyrics are definitely positive. Songs are meant to be another form of a poem but lately, songs have lost it's poetic meaning. These lyrics are definitely much more thought out with the metaphors, similes and other endless poetic techniques. My favourite part:
"Set me on fire,
With silent kisses like the sunset
Darkness is our playground we call home"
Summary:
Set Me On Fire is my favourite song of the moment and you should definitely check it out! Being Australian, the song doesn't get much hype worldwide but I think she definitely deserves it. As of right now, the video on YouTube doesn't even have 50,000 hits yet. It's so unfortunate because the song, and Bella, are beautiful.
